Oh, Amy! First of all, I want to wish you a belated Happy New Year. I may have missed January 1, but I am still in time for the Chinese New Year, so Happy Year of the Horse to you!

Secondly, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your food, your life, both ups and downs with us. It sounds like it has been a really tough year personally despite professional triumphs. Well thanks for that glowing affirmation Wattacetti! 🙂

You know I just wasn’t sure if the subject was too personal. But then I realized my feelings were based more around the shame that surrounds the topic – and that bothers me. So many woman: friends, family, and co-workers shared their own personal stories with me and that fueled my desire to write about it.

For me (and I think for you too because I completely look up to writing style and stories) there is something about owning an experience through writing about it that allows it to become a part of your history and not your present. It’s much easier to let it go once you have given some real time and focus to it.

Anyhoo, as always, thanks for your humor and insights that keep and have kept me smiling all these years!

A terrific post which I congratulate you for having the courage to share with us little people. The good stuff that you need will make its presence known when it’s time, but for now happy belated birthday and have some fun while counting down the remaining days of 2013. 2014 will have its own surprises and I do hope to eventually answer “and the dog barks at midnight” at the appropriate time.

And just to be a little smarty-pants, the actress/model in the Virginia Slims ad is Erin Grey. You may remember her with Gil Gerard in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Yes I do watch too much TV.
